Scope
This poster, along with an installation and video, was created for information design class. There was a lot of discussion about what the difference was between infographics and information design, with my understanding ending in that information design is meant to look more like a design from a distance with a great amount of information packed in that can be seen up close.
Methodology
I chose to talk about the lives in and after the puppy mill for dogs. My project, titled “Captive: A Mill Dog’s Life”, began with a great amount of research and an in depth problem brief. Emotionally, this was a difficult project but it deals with a topic that I feel very passionate about. I wanted to connect to people’s emotions and logic in order to try to make a difference for the dogs. After research I did many, many sketches. There were also many, many iterations. I ended up with this palette because these are the colors that dogs have the ability to see with their color blindness. I chose to display data above the dog to create a sort of cage with the data.
